As people grow older and live longer, it is easy for them to become lonely and isolated from their local community. The Richmond Community Support Service Consortium explores the services and activities available for older residents of our borough and forges links between these facilities and the people who can benefit from them.
Groups and organisations within the Consortium provide a range of services. The Social Clubs provide venues where older people can meet new friends, enjoy lunch or snacks and take part in classes, quizzes, debates and outings, while the The Voluntary Care Groups provide help with shopping, transport and small practical tasks around the home. The newest members are Homelink the day respite care and Moving On, the south west London stroke club
The Consortium exists to help older residents of Richmond upon Thames to live a fuller life by introducing them to new friends and activities and by ensuring that they have access to the facilities and services that they need.
The Consortium also aims to encourage closer relationships between voluntary groups, Richmond Council and healthcare professionals.
In addition there are numerous independent organisations offering services that are relevant to older people. These organisations are listed in the appropriate sections of the Information Desk.
The Consortium is funded by Richmond Council and is managed by a committee of representatives of member organisations.
